My faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the center of how I want to live. It belongs in the decisions I make, the way I treat people, the work in front of me, and the thoughts I allow to shape my mind.
I keep coming back to the connection between belief and action. What I believe shapes how I think. How I think shapes what I do. Over time, those choices become the direction of my life. If I want to live differently, I have to be honest about what I am actually believing.
That is part of what draws me into Scripture. I want to understand what the Word says, in its context, and let it challenge the assumptions I brought with me. A familiar phrase can sound spiritual without answering the question I am really asking.
Ask the question. Open the Word.
I have been thinking about the way we talk about God's timing. We can use that phrase to explain almost anything that has not happened the way we wanted. I believe God is sovereign. I also want to understand what Scripture actually supports when we use those words. Am I trusting the Lord, or using a familiar answer to avoid a harder question?
I do not see honest questions as something to hide from. I want to bring them before the Lord, study carefully, and be willing to change my mind. There is a difference between holding a conviction and refusing to examine how I arrived at it.
The same examination has to reach my priorities. Something can be interesting, useful, or good and still take a place in my life that belongs to God. Knowledge, success, influence, and money all need to stay in their proper place. The answer begins with honesty before Him.
Bring it into the ordinary.
What matters is how that belief takes shape when the day gets practical. How do I respond when I am frustrated? Do I keep my word? Am I faithful with what is already in my hands? Does the way I live point toward the One I say I follow?
I want boldness that can stand beside gentleness and kindness. Conviction should give me the courage to speak clearly and the humility to listen carefully. The goal is a life that increasingly reflects Jesus.
That is the direction behind Belief to Boldness, the book I have been working on, and behind much of what I want to write here. Keep returning to truth. Let it shape your thinking. Put it into practice.
